It's not unusual for lots of users to use weak passwords since they are much easier to remember or to use scripts, templates and plugins that aren't updated for a long time. In either of these examples, it won't be a challenge for a hacker to take control of the website and after that to take control of other websites that may be hosted within the same account. To prevent this kind of a scenario, we've added an advanced security option called JailHost. It restricts the access that a script has exclusively to its own folder, so in case one of your Internet sites is compromised, the attacker will see its content, but won't be able to access any other content part of your account, therefore the damage will be minimal. Needless to say, using JailHost doesn't substitute the safety measures you should always take by keeping your scripts up-to-date and using long and complex passwords, still it'll help you to limit any damage to one site only.

JailHost in Hosting

If you host your Internet sites inside a hosting account from our firm, you could protect them using the JailHost feature with just a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The option is available with all packages and can be enabled for every folder because the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have different folders, so that files for different websites never get mixed up like it regularly happens with other Control Panels. We have not activated JailHost by default as you could use scripts that require access to folders outside the main website folder and this option can interfere with their proper functioning, but protecting all the other folders is simple and easy. In case any protected site gets hacked for some reason, we will be able to restore it in a short time as we'll have multiple daily backup copies of your entire account and you will even be able to search the available backups from Hepsia.

JailHost in Semi-dedicated Servers

JailHost is available with all of our semi-dedicated server packages, so in case you host several sites, you will be able to isolate them from one another to keep them safe. This feature should be activated for each and every Internet site and is not active by default, in order to avoid interference with scripts that require access to multiple folders inside the account. Activating it for all other domains will take no more than several clicks in the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel. Unlike other Control Panels, Hepsia doesn't place different Internet sites under the primary domain folder. Instead, every domain or subdomain has its own folder, that makes it easier to manage and secure all your websites. In case that a website within your account gets hacked, not only will your other sites remain untouched, but we'll also be able to restore the damaged Internet site in a short time since we will have multiple backups of your entire content.
