The NS, or Name Server records of a domain name, show which servers manage the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a specific hosting provider for your domain name is the easiest way to point it to their system and all its sub-records are going to be taken care of on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), etcetera, if you would like to change any of these records, you will be able to do it using their system. To put it differently, the NS records of a domain address reveal the DNS servers that are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to get the DNS records of the Internet domain you want to reach. That way the web site that you'll see will be retrieved from the correct location. The name servers usually have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each and every domain has at least 2 NS records. There isn't any practical difference between the two prefixes, so what type a host company is going to use depends completely on their preference.

NS Records in Hosting

In the event you register a domain name within a hosting account from our company, you will be able to manage its name servers effortlessly. This is accomplished through the Registered Domains section of the in-house built Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and with a few mouse clicks you'll be able to update the NS records of one or even a number of domain addresses at a time, which can save you time and efforts in case you have a large number of domain names that you'd like to direct to another provider. You can enter many name servers depending on how many the other company gives you. Additionally we allow you to set up private name servers for any domain registered through our company and in contrast to many other providers we do not charge anything additional for this service. The newly created NS records can be used to direct any other domain to the hosting platform of the company whose IP addresses you have used during the process, so every time you use our IPs in particular, all domain addresses included in the account on our end can use these name servers.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The name servers for every domain name which is registered through us can be changed with no more than a few clicks using the advanced, although easy-to-use Hepsia Control Panel included with all semi-dedicated server plans. It's just as simple to view the current NS records for a particular domain name and to determine if they're the ones that are needed for the domain to be pointed to your hosting account. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, is user-friendly enough to allow you to handle any domain easily even if you have not dealt with such matters before. If you would like, you may even register private name servers ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com and use them not just for the domain under which they're created, but also for any other domain that you might want to host in the same account. This feature is very beneficial when you have clients of your own and you would like their sites to use your own name servers rather than our default ones. The service is available absolutely free.
